Friday 11th September 2009 saw the IWF 9th Anniversary and it's showcase was undisputedly the brightest star in the IWF calendar, however for another reason it could also be described as one of the darkest days in IWF history.
Lee Kyle, after serving 9 years for IWF lost an extremely hard-fought battle against TY McFly in a Loser Leaves IWF match. While the deal for this stipulation only lasts a year, it was still a hard sight to see Lee Kyle emotionally say goodbye to his legions of loyal fans.
While Lee thanked and said goodbye to friends, family and fans alike the entire IWF roster were in a united standing ovation for the man who has given so much for them and the company he has helped get to where it is today.
Lee became a member of the IWF roster on their second ever show back in 2000 and proceeded to entertain fans as only Lee Kyle could in classic IWF matches with the likes of CT Renegade, DM Valentine, Billy Graham and Nero. As well as entertaining fans in the ring Lee has always been the main entertainer backstage too with his own unique humour that has continued to make the IWF roster both old and new laugh for 9 years straight.
Lee has been a trainer, mentor and friend to many if not all IWF members at some point in his illustrious career. To say Lee will be missed is a statement that will be often used and yet will always be an understatement. He may be remembered for his charismatic entrance, his unique catchphrases, his various personas, his outstanding knowledge of counters, reversals and submissions, for being 'Lush', the star of Radio Newcastle, Jarrow's most famous man, or even for being 'Christian Slater's favourite wrestler'. But here at IWF he will be remembered as North East Champion, IWF Tag Team Champion.....he will be remembered for being IWF's Lee Kyle...and he has been for 9 years!
